Conditions. Scottish mid-May: 8–16 °C, overcast standard, rain probable, forest gravel holds standing water.
If you wax — ZFC-recommended path. Plan for wet conditions regardless of the May date. Pre-event wax and Synergetic carry — the forest gravel drains slowly. A post-event chain-stripper is mandatory if oil was applied mid-ride.
If you're on oil — pragmatic equivalent. Wet-conditions oil pre-event is non-negotiable for Scotland. Apply before, carry a bottle, plan a full post-event clean.
